Senate President of Thailand Predicts a Bright Future for Cambodian Ties Under Hun Manet

Thailand: The President of the Thai Senate, Pornpetch Wichitcholchai, voiced optimism for an enhanced Cambodia-Thailand relationship under the stewardship of Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet. This declaration came during a pivotal meeting on February 7, 2024, amid Hun Manet's official tour of the Kingdom of Thailand.

The discussion revisited the historical cooperation that has characterized the ties between the two nations. With confidence, Senate President Wichitcholchai projected that the already robust partnership would reach new heights of collaboration and mutual development with Hun Manet at Cambodia's helm.

Prime Minister Hun Manet reciprocated the sentiments, expressing satisfaction with the productive dialogue and acknowledging the solid foundation of legislative and executive cooperation that underpins the relationship between Cambodia and Thailand. He elaborated on the discussions held with Thai Prime Minister, focusing on the elevation of bilateral ties to a "strategic partnership." This strategic shift promises to intensify cooperation across vital sectors, including trade and investment, energy security, demining, employment, education, tourism, and the combat against transnational crime, aligning with the common interests of both countries.

This meeting underscores a shared commitment to not only preserve the peace and prosperity that have long defined Cambodia-Thailand relations but also to explore new avenues for collaboration that will benefit both nations in the years to come.
